Career
Demeshchuk earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physics, and Mathematics from Ulyanovsk State University in Russia, graduating in 2008. In June 2017, he moved into Postmates X, the company’s internal robotics division, as its second engineer, working alongside Ali Kashani. There he built the core on-robot and cloud infrastructure supporting Serve’s early delivery robots, including deployment pipelines, metrics and logging, and data-collection systems; a teleoperation stack that let human operators control robots remotely over LTE; and a range of on-rover software components such as drivers, manual-control systems, and sensor-data processing. He was later promoted to Director and Infrastructure Lead within the division (LinkedIn; Serve Robotics investor relations).
When Uber acquired Postmates in 2020 and subsequently agreed to spin out the Postmates X team, Demeshchuk co-founded Serve Robotics alongside Ali Kashani and MJ Chun in January 2021, taking on the role of Vice President of Software. TechCrunch’s coverage of the spin-out identified him as “the first engineer who joined the Serve team at Postmates” (TechCrunch). He has continued to lead Serve’s software organization through the company’s 2023 public listing, its 2024 Nasdaq uplisting, and its subsequent fleet expansion to thousands of robots across dozens of U.S. cities.
